Military Sealift Command has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC firm a fixed Purchase Order to provide cleaning of the USNS Supply (T-AOE-6).
 
The scope of work includes cleaning and inspection of propellers, rudders and sea chests in conjunction with an American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) In-Water Survey and Video https://www.inwatersurveys.com/ Diving Operations were carried out July 23-27 by Seaward Mobile 4.

 

 

Military Sealift Command has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC a firm fixed Purchase Order to provide cleaning of the USNS Bismark (T-EPF-9).

The scope of work include cleaning and inspecting the underwater hull, impellers, stators, water jets, shafts, sea chests, fathometer/speed log, appendages, CAPAC electrodes, Jetavator and hull anodes .  Diving Operations were carried out July 12-20 by Seaward Mobile 3 and 4.

 

 

Seaward Divers were tasked to inspect the underwater hull of USNS YUMA (T-EPF-8) including impellers, stators, water jets, shafts, sea chests, fathometer/speed log, and appendages.  Divers cleaned the shafts, impellors and approximately 300 sqft of underwater hull in and around the water jet tunnels as directed by the on-scene representative and provided video and digital sill photos to document the hull condition.  Divers located possible discontinuities in the water jet and completed an underwater magnetic particle test to make the determination that they were not cracks but weld inclusion.  Divers completed all work within the period of performance and complied with all requirements established by COMCINST Engineering Operations and Maintenance Manual.  Diving Operations were carried out June 27-28 by Seaward Mobile 4.

 

 

Mid Atlantic Engineering and Technical Services has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC a firm fixed Purchase Order to provide Diving Services on the USNS William McLean (T-AKE-12).

The scope of work included propeller shaft wear down readings, main propeller and hub propeller cleaning and polishing, and inspection of the Hull, Bow Thruster, Bilge Keels, Rudder, Sea Chests, Gratings, Doppler Speed Log, Echo Depth Sounder, and Cathodic Protection System.  Diving Operations were carried out June 14-19 by Seaward's Dive boat, Coastal Pride.
 

 

Seaward Marine Services Mobile Diving Unit 3 completed an underwater inspection, cleaning, and repair of the ICCP system on the Battleship Wisconsin.  This work was completed during one of two routine hull inspections under the Battleship Wisconsin Maintenance Contract with the City of Norfolk. Repairs to areas of exposed bare metal on the anode dielectric shields were completed using Hycote 461 underwater fairing compound. Diving operations were carried out from May 29 – June 1, 2018.

Military Sealift Command has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC a firm fixed Purchase Order to provide cleaning of the USNS Comfort (T-AH-20).

The scope of work include cleaning and inspecting the sea chests, transducers, anodes, reference cells, hull penetrations and propeller.  The work item also included inspection of anti-fouling paint test bands with Naval Surface Warfare in attendance. Diving Operations were carried out May 21-24 by Seaward Mobile 4.

 

 

Epsilon Systems Solutions has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC a firm fixed Purchase Order to provide Diving Services on the USNS Laramie (T-AO203).

The scope of work included cleaning propellers, sea chest suctions and overboard lines, and perform a visual Inspection of the hull to include all underwater surface areas; propellers, rudders, bow thruster, depth sounder, speed log, sea chest gratings, condition of anti-fouling paint, hull plating, sacrificial zinc anodes, ICCP system, and appendages.  Diving Operations were carried out May 21-24 by Seaward Mobile 3.

 

 

Colonna’s Shipyard has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC Norfolk, VA a firm fixed Purchase Order to provide a waterborne underwater hull cleaning and survey on USNS Grasp (T ARS-51). Period of performance was April 2-6, 2018 at Joint Forces Base Little Creek in Norfolk, VA. 
 

The underwater hull survey was completed using the Lamp Ray Remote Operated Survey Vehicle. Seaward's Lamp Ray® ROV is a portable underwater robotic hull scanner integrated with a topside data acquisition system and controller. It performs a comprehensive hull material condition survey using sensors for ultrasonic testing, dry film thickness, and cathodic potential. 

All work was completed on time and within the budget estimate.
 

Crowley Government Services has awarded Seaward Marine Services, LLC firm fixed Purchase Orders to provide Diving Services on USNS PFC Eugene A. Obregon (T AK- 3006) and USNS SGT Matej Kocak (T AK-3005).

The extensive scope of work included cleaning propellers, rudders, sea chest suctions and overboards, and ABS video inspections of both hulls and appendages. Work also included opening sea chests and bow thrusters for cleaning and video inspections. Cofferdams were manufactured and installed on USNS Obregon Main Circulating Pump Suctions, Main Scoop Injection Inlet, Main Condenser Overboard Discharge, and Auxiliary Salt Water Service Pump Suction. Diving Operations were carried out by Seawards Dive Vessel Coastal Pride team at Talton Marine Terminal in Newport News VA. 

 

 

Seaward Marine Services would like to thank the Historic Naval Ships Association for having us at their annual conference which was held this year in Charleston, SC, and the Patriots Point for hosting the event. It was a first for us to set our booth up on the main deck of an aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown, and we really enjoyed that experience. We'd like to thank all those who came by our booth this year, and hope that more museum ships will begin to utilize and count on our services the way our current museum ship customers have. Seaward Marine Services would like to give a big "Bravo Zulu" to two of its Norfolk based crews for the cleaning and maintenance work they've recently completed on the USS John Warner.  Working from Seaward’s Norfolk based dive boat, the Coastal Pride, work began on the USS John Warner on the 26th of August and continued with continuous 12 hours shifts until the morning of the 1^st of September.  

First shift was supervised and managed by Bill Greenwood, with divers Mike Charles, Tim Russell, Nathanial Peterson, Mike Waters, Max Spruill, and Taylor Peterson.  Second shift was supervised and managed by Frank Sedlack, with divers Tara Carter, Richard Conners, Steve Steiniger, Matt Shaw, Preston Edwards, Kevin Kirschner, and Dave Bruce.  A job well done to all involved.

Seaward Marine Services, LLC was awarded a firm fixed Purchase Order by Walashek Industries, to perform an underwater hull cleaning and ABS Underwater Inspection In Lieu of Drydocking on the Military Sealift Command vessel, USNS Lewis B. Puller (T ESB-3) . 
 

The extensive scope of work included cleaning of the underwater hull with Seaward's Submersible Cleaning and Maintenance Platform (SCAMP), cleaning of the propellers, rudders, bilge keels, bow thruster, appendages, as well as the opening of all sea chest grates for cleaning and video inspection with an ABS Surveyor in attendance. All work was completed on schedule and within the budget estimates by the Seaward Marine Services Norfolk, VA Mobile 4 Dive Team.

Seaward's Norfolk Mobile Diving Unit 3 has successfully completed ICCP system repairs on the Battleship Wisconsin under the Underwater Maintenance and Repair Contract with the City of Norfolk. The scope of work included repairs to the fastener fairings, dielectric shielding, and waterborne replacement of two 8 ft. anodes and the applicable the electrical connections inside the ship.

 

 Project dive team members were Pete Carlson, Tara Carter, Mike Hummel, Chris Stapleton, Richard Conners, and Taylor Peterson.  Inside support team members were Maxwell Spruill, Preston Edwards, and Jake Gladfelter.  The job was successfully completed within the budget estimate provided to the City of Norfolk, under the supervision of Frank Sedlack (Diving Supervisor) and Vernon “Dean” Womack (Project Manager). Congratulations on another job well done by Seaward Mobile 3.

 

Seaward Marine Services, LLC Norfolk, VA has been awarded a firm fixed price Purchase Order by NRG Energy http://www.nrg.com/ to perform underwater inspections for Arthur Kill Power Station Staten Island NY. The scope of work includes underwater inspection and documentation of the discharge tunnel and four 54 inch diameter outlet pipes, discharge flume, Unit 2 and 3 Circulating Bays and Screen House Returns. Work is scheduled to begin April 17, 2017 and will be accomplished by SMS Mobile 4 from Norfolk, VA. 
 

The dive team members are Mike Waters, Joel Prendergast, Timothy “Matt” Russell, Steve Saunders, Alex Clark, and Bryan Brown. Vernon “Dean” Womack is the diving supervisor. Project Manager is David Spruill. Seaward successfully completed a similar project at Arthur Kill Power Station in 2007. 
 

 

Seaward Marine Services, Inc. has been awarded a firm-fixed-price maintenance contract for the Battleship Wisconsin (BB-64).  This contract was competitively procured through bid services with the city of Norfolk. The contract period begins in 2016 with options to renew for four additional one-year periods, ending performance in 2021.

The scope of work will include an annual inspection of all sea-chest blanks and stern tubes, and findings will be reported with supporting photographic evidence and recommendations for hull cleaning. When cleaning is required to thoroughly inspect the hull, it will be executed in accordance with NAVSEA S9086-CQ-STM-10/Chapter 081 utilizing the SCAMP platform. A bi-annual survey and cleaning of the impressed current (ICCP) system shall be performed in accordance with NAVSEA S90j86-CQ-STM-10/Chapter 19. Recommendations for repairs will be submitted to the city of Norfolk. Repairs approved by the city may include welding and/or underwater painting using Hycote, which is the only product in the world that has US Navy's approval for application underwater onto US Navy vessels.

This ongoing service is part of the city’s restoration plan to defer a costly dry-docking of this historic museum ship. We are proud to be a part of the effort to preserve this icon of our nation’s naval might, and we look forward to continuing our great working relationship with the city of Norfolk.
 

Seaward Marine Services, Inc. has been awarded a firm-fixed-price contract to perform waterline repairs on the Battleship Wisconsin (BB-64). The scope of work includes the application of Hycote 151, which is the only product in the world that has US Navy approval for application underwater to US Navy vessels.  Approximately 1800 linear feet of waterline is tasked to be coated. Of this area 700 linear feet is exposed bare metal with corrosion and pitting extending two feet above and two feet below the waterline.  This brings the total job scope to approximately 7,200 square feet of Hycote to be applied. The contract was won through a competitive process invitation for bids with the City of Norfolk.  Production began October 11 and is expected to continue through November of 2016.  Seaward's Dive boat, the Coastal Pride, with its crew supervised by Mickey Bisese and Mobile Dive Team IV, supervised by Michael Charles will work together under the project management of Dean Womack to bring the project to a successful conclusion. 

Seaward was previously tasked in 2013 for Hull Cleaning and Lamp Ray ROV® inspection of the Wisconsin, and was featured on the April 2013 edition of Norfolk News Now for that work.
